Romancing October

Romancing October,
Nightmare rolls the bones,
a Nine & three Sixes
for the Watcher’s four thrones.
The magic transfixes
what the white witch condones

The potions she mixes
are for her lips alone

Nightmare is enchanted
by the spell that is cast
from the white witch’s grimoire
called The Womb of Andraste
In nocturnal rapport
till the oathbreaker has passed

A wolf at the door
Not the first nor the last

Courting October,
Nightmare’s magic subsides
One bone left to toss
A die with eight sides
Beneath an obelus cross
the white witch abides

Magic tallies the cost
that the witch must divide
