Bowen, Son of Wulf

(mixed media / mostly pencil w/ some Photoshop)

Bob Freeman & Andy Dale

This started out as a very basic character sketch by Scottish penciler Andy Dale back in the old Lion’s Den Studios days. I recently reacquired those old files and decided to finish this piece off this morning, adding a face to the character, weapons, as well as the fore and background. Lot of fun to revisit Bowen, a Howard-esque barbarian intended as the principle character in a fantasy comic series that, for whatever reason, never quite got off the ground. Might he show up in a short story or two in the near future? Stranger things have happened.

Casting Descendant

Posted in Archive on April 24, 2012 by Occult Detective

I imagine that, at one time or another, every author noodles over who would be cast in movie versions of their various works. I’ve had Descendant on my mind a lot this past week or so. It’s not only the best novel I’ve written to date, but it’s also got the most cinematic potential. So I was pondering who might be cast in the principle roles for this venture, should it ever fall onto the big or small screen. I decided to not go crazy and stay away from the big box office names, instead looking to actors that I thought could pull it off, deliver outstanding performances, and embody the characters as I envisioned them. Anyway, here’s my first pass at them —
