Breaking News from the desk of the Occult Detective
It’s one week until All Hallow’s Eve. I can’t believe how fast this month has flown by. Before you know it we’ll all be suffering from “too much candy” hangovers on a Thursday morning, Hallowe’en 2012 already a fading memory. At least those of us with kids.
So what’s this big “Breaking News” I’ve to report? First, remember that over on twitter I’ve started a campaign for writers to tweet Hallowe’en stories in 123 characters or less. Follow the hashtag #HalloweenIn123.
I’m also happy to report that in yesterday’s mail I finally received Tom Millstead’s collected correspondences with celebrated horror author and Hoosier native J. N. Williamson. There are hundreds of letters, many of them several pages long. And they are completely out of any semblance of chronological order. Picking up the random letter here or there, I was immediately blown away by the candor and rich detail found in these posts, covering everything from sports, movies, politics, and of course, publishing. To call these letters anything other than a treasure trove is a disservice. I’m not altogether sure what I’ll be doing with these letters, but I expect a retrospective of some kind is in order.
Oh, and did I mention he was an astrology buff?
Barking right up my proverbial tree.
Stay tuned.
