Bullets & Beer No More
It’s a fitting end to one of the most prolific crime novelists of our generation. Robert B. Parker — author of 38 Spenser novels, 9 Jesse Stone novels, and a whole host more, including two terrific Phillip Marlow works — died at his desk doing what he loved best… writing. He was 77.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, and his sons, David (a choreographer) and Daniel (an actor).
Gone, but certainly not to be forgotten, 2010 will see SPLIT IMAGE, the newest Jesse Stone novel (out February 23) and BLUE-EYED DEVIL, an Appaloosa novel (out on May 4) published.
It was my father who turned me on to Robert B. Parker, giving me a tattered paperback of Pale Kings and Princes back in 1988 when I was working at the Kokomo Chrysler Transmission Plant. I was hooked.
Robert B. Parker was the real deal and the world is a sadder place without him.
Godspeed.

Parker was great, wasn’t he… He has achieved what all authors strive for: immortality.

Thank you Dr Parker for bringing humour, action and just damned fine entertainment to the Spenser series. Rest easy…..the Red Sox will be back in 2011.
