Shapes of things…

As I’m sure you’ve already noticed, Occult Detective is undergoing a facelift. Out with the old and in with the new, as they say…

What can you look forward to as the new year dawns?

1. The Devil’s in the Details – an ongoing serial with weekly installments that will play out over the course of the year. Set firmly in the genre that gives this website its name, you can also expect elements of gothic horror and good old fashioned romantic adventure to come to the fore.

2. Author Spotlights – in an attempt to promote the genre I love, I will be looking to do a monthly spotlight on those authors who are keeping the genre alive, complete with interviews and short stories or excerpts from those tapped.

3. Paranormal Investigations – a weekly commentary on past and present investigations and occasionally an interview with people out there in the field.

4. Television Commentary – yes, I will again delve into discussing those programs that capture my attention. For some reason, these blogs tend to be my most read, so once again I’ll be discussing episodes of Lost and Supernatural, plus other shows that spark an interest (Doll House, perhaps?).

5. Book, Magazine, and Movie Reviews – because I’m opinionated, to say the least.

6. Writing Updates – you will indeed get plenty of updates on what I’m writing, what I’m promoting, and where you can track me down (in the flesh and online)

And you know what… there’ll be lots more going on. As I see it, the industry is in trouble and we who are attempting to make our living off of the printing of our words have to become more proactive. We need to bring in new readers and keep our old readers well fed. We need to find alternative means of getting our product to the people who want it, and 2009 will find me experimenting with various means to keep the genre vital and alive.

We are entering a new age… a new and exciting world with an uncertain future.  Kind of inspiring isn’t it?
